Layouts

2 min read

A layout is a collection of one or more regions where the content of a screen is presented. A region is totally independent from each other and contains it’s own playlist.

When a layout spans the entire screen, no specific template is required, as the screen surface can be used directly. However, if a layout is to be divided into different regions, a specific layout is required for this purpose.

Create a new layout #

Create the foundation for the layout

1. Navigate to the “Layouts” menu option in the left menu. Here you find all your stored Layouts

2. To create a new layout, click on the “Create Layout” button.

3. Start by naming the new layout in the “Name” text box. There is also the option to add a description for the layout in the “Description” text box.

4. Next, specify the desired resolution for the layout, for example, if it is intended for a screen with full HD support, the resolution should be 1920 pixels wide and 1080 pixels high. Also, decide whether the layout should be in landscape or portrait format.

5. in the “Background Color” you can choose a background color for the layout. Click on the black field and select the desired color for the layout.

Create Regions #

6. Click on the “Screen Regions” button in the upper right corner to open the view for regions on the layout.

7. To create a region, click on the “Create region” button. A new region will be added to the layout.

8. Start by naming the region in the “Name” text field.

9. Under “Dimensions,” you can specify the size of a region, or you can choose to drag the region to the desired size. If the region is to cover the entire layout, use the “Fill Canvas” option to adjust the size automatically.

10. Under “Position,” you can determine the position of the region, i.e., where the region should be placed on the layout. It is also possible to move the region using the mouse. Under Z-position, you can choose the order in which the regions should be placed. Use Z-position to determine the order in which the regions should be displayed, which can be useful if multiple regions overlap each other.

Then save the layout using the “Save” button.
